At the cost of 10 dollars (one time payment) we could change our URL as there is now a new feature in proboards. We would lose nothing from our present forum and members would be redirected automatically to the new URL for the first two weeks. We could have 'loveandrelationshipaddictsanonymous' instead of 'hopeforloveaddicts' in our URL. What does everyone think? G www.proboards.com/blog/

I think it's a good idea and am willing to pay along!

KB suggested adding a paypal function on the LRAA website so we could make donations for this kind of thing and so that we can become fully self supporting as the 7th Trad demands. At the moment KB is allowing us to use his host to let us have our website. (BTW, when are we going to get to work on making our website fully operative? ) G

Hi all, Let's brainstorm our ideas here. As you know we have a website. lraaonline.org. But, we need to start working on it. If anybody is willing to help please reply to this post. I think KB has already inserted our 12 and 12. But we need original writings. Maybe personal experiences and recovery stories. Links to resources including the most useful literature we have purchased and read. Obviously in a separate section in respect of traditions. I'm just throwing down a few ideas here after discussing this with another member. If we don't get the website up we will never attract newcomers so let's get our act together. I also suggested using the proboards feature to change our URL to something more suitable and idntifiable with LRAa G

I have just modified the wording on the banner on our homepage so we can click on link to website. That should make it easier for us to shift back and forth...and not to keep forgetting we have a website...which I'm guilty of most of the time G

Hi Greta,
I can help with the Web site on a limited basis. My primary goal right now is getting back on my feet professionally. I have not been able to work full-time for seven years because of the disabilites I developed during treatment for cancer.
Over the years, I've launched numerous Websites and managed the re-design of several more. Post-chemo, tech stuff is difficult and I often "forget" how to use the software necessary for Web projects.
The overall look of the site and navigation are very important to work on up front. People will click on the site and assess its professionalism and validity based on what they see. It's a first impression.

Thanks IWS and welcome back. What we need are concrete ideas I think. I am quite artistic but don't have the technical know how. I agree that first impressions are very important. I sent email to KB via site suggesting images depicting Dante's Inferno. Something eye catching to get people reading. But just my idea. That's why I'm asking for practical contributions. I'll be looking at other addiction related websites again today. To be honest I haven't found any that are eye catching or particularly professional looking. But I will keep looking. I know CJ is willing to contribute too so if we all put our thinking caps on we might be able to come up with something soon. Primrose will also write material as soon as she has time hopefully, but I think making the website look welcoming and interesting is key at the moment G

And to make it be found by google! I think changing the URL is a great idea, that's one of the criteria google uses.

Paypal function: great idea.
And the URL change can help to get more guests through google. So I think it might be very important. I hope everyone who votes on it later on will take this into consideration.

Yes of course Moonlight. We really must do everything we can to get visibility on google. A URL with love and relationship addicts anonymous in it would be wonderful. I also want to change our email address to lraaonline@gmail.com. I already opened up this account but I want consent to use it as forum email. By making love and relationship addiction as visisble as possible we have a better chance of surviving as a fellowship because of course more people will find us. If anybody knows any tricks to make us more visible please let us know! G Edited: Please note I just used a new function which allows us to move individual posts or all posts in a thread to a new thread or an existing thread. So all the posts in old 'NEW URL' thread are on this thread now. Kinda like spring cleaning

The only reason I'm providing this link here is for us to look at how the site is set up.( I'm probably breaking trad 4 so I'll remove if one of you with more experience tells me to do so. The site looks excellent. Personally, I would jazz it up ( does that surprise anyone? ) but the layout looks really clear. www.slaafws.orgCould we ask for authorisation to use/adapt some of their literature, I wonder? G

My opinion: i tyink the url for this board is fine as it is. It is already coming up in searches on google. Url is not as important as content. You would lose your ranking if you changed url now. I think emulating slaaws is a good idea. Link to this board is already on lraaonline.org. We should write our own characteristics, and signs of recovery.

Thanks KB. we'll keep this URL if we risk losing ranking we already have.
Now it's just a matter of doing some writing everyone....

Thanks for this KB. You gave me an idea. We can start a thread in GC and everyone can contribute to a definition of the 'Characteristics of LRAs'. Then, once we have our characteristics drawn up and approved by GC, we can start a thread on 'Signs of Recovery from LRA' We are all different but we can pool our ideas to get a better picture of the addiction and recovery from it. We can start one new thread at a time once the poll on the Proposed Guidelines closes. We might even have our own characteristics and recovery literature within a few weeks G
