PROPOSED
ORGANIZATIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE
FOR
NEW BOARD AND FELLOWSHIP
(Unanimously Approved by Temporary Organizing Committee on June 16, 2010)
(Members of Committee: Greta, Primrose, Knowlove, Trout46, KelleyBoy)
I. NATURE, TYPE, AND PURPOSE OF WEBSITE BOARD AND FELLOWSHIP PROPOSED; (CURRENTLY NAMED “HOPE FOR LOVE ADDICTS”)
1. TYPE OF FELLOWSHIP AND BOARD; NAME:
Based on posts to the thread, “What are We?,”on our new website, it is clear that our current members identify with addictions that include “love,” “sex,” “avoidants,” “relationships,” “romance,” “intimacy,” and others. One common theme is “obsessiveness.” The most commonly identified addiction is “love.”
There is also considerable support for having a fellowship that is inclusive of these and other addictions that our members identify with. Most, if not all posts, support the position that individuals would be welcome to discuss any and all issues/addictions that they are working through.
There is also very strong support for adopting/adapting the 12 steps and 12 traditions in our fellowship. We will require approval from AA (I believe) for any plan to adapt the 12 x 12. (Perhaps Dodgy Yank, who looked into trademark registrations, could help with this.)
A. Name
The name of the on-line board and the fellowship recommended by the Organizing Committee is:
“Love and Relationship Addicts Anonymous”
2. PRINCIPLES AND VALUES:
Based on discussions/posts on the new board, as well as the Committee membership’s considerable correspondence over the past few days, I would suggest following as core principles and values we support:
–Inclusiveness
–Transparency
–Shared Governance
–Equality (an interest in minimizing stratification and hierarchical ranking or grouping of members)
II. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE OF THE NEW FELLOWSHIP AND BOARD
1. DECISION-MAKING: HOME GROUP AND GROUP CONSCIENCE:
A. Adoption of the status of “Home Group Membership”
Individuals who become members of the board shall have the opportunity to designate the board as their “home group.” Every registered member shall have the opportunity to declare the board/fellowship their home group.
B. Group Conscience
Home Group members shall have the right to participate in Home Group Meetings and vote on any and all matters presented to the membership for decision. The process of rendering decisions by home group members will be a democratic process referred to as decision by “group conscience.”
2. MEETINGS:
Home group members will have the right to participate in regularly scheduled meetings–business meetings, special purpose meetings, and other meetings involving the entirety of the fellowship’s members. Such meetings will be considered “closed” meetings, meaning that they are limited to home group members.
Meetings may be conducted via chat rooms, forums, or other methods yet to be determined. It is anticipated that business meetings will be held on a recurring schedule, most likely once per month.
3. AGENDAS AND MINUTES:
All meetings of home group members will be proceeded by the distribution of an agenda by the board administrator. Minutes will be produced as a formal record of the business or decisions rendered at all home group meetings. The minutes for each meeting will be made available to home group members on the home group forum site (described below).
4. HOME GROUP BUSINESS AND INFORMATION:
A permanent forum site will be established for use of home group business. This forum site will include the publication of agendas and minutes for all business and special purpose meetings, as well as other business and matters of interest to home group members.
5. Member Status and Stars:
Administrators will have the following stars associated with their profiles:
Board Administrator 5 red stars
Executive Administrator 5 red stars
Assistant Administrators 5 yellow stars
Webmaster 5 blue stars
Moderators 5 blue stars
Step Sponsors 5 red stars
Members will have the following stars associated with their profiles:
All members who designate Love and Relationship Addicts Anonymous as their home group shall be designated as “home member” on their profiles. Home members will receive five (5) green stars, which will also be identified on their profiles.
Home Group Members 5 green stars
New members who do not designate Love and Relationship Addicts Anonymous as their home group shall receive one (1) star when they first join the fellowship, and shall receive additional stars as the number of their posts increases. The Administrative Council shall post a detailed description of the number of stars to be assigned to non-home group members based on the number of posts they have made.
III. ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS
1. BOARD ADMINISTRATOR
The board/fellowship shall have an administrator who will manage, oversee, and implement the board’s/fellowship’s business and he administration of the website and its recovery purposes. Other duties and responsibilities may be determined in the future by group conscience.
A. Determination of Rotating Administrator
The Board Administrator shall be elected by group conscience following nomination of candidates by home group members. The Administrator shall serve a term of one year. Any individual can serve no longer than two consecutive terms as Board Administrator.
B. Administrative Council and Other Administrative Positions
The board/fellowship shall have one standing committee, the Board Council, whose primary duties and responsibilities are to aid in the administration of the board and fellowship. Members of the Board Council shall comprise:
–The Board Administrator (defined above);
–an Executive Assistant, who will serve as the first assistant to the Administrator, and serve as the temporary Administrator when he/she is on leave from the board/fellowship for any reason, and will assist the Administrator as the need arises;
–three (3) Assistant Administrators, who will serve in various administrative functions, including corresponding with members on the boards forums, and conducting such tasks as assigned by the Administrator; and,

A number of Moderators, the exact number of which will vary, depending upon the number of board members, and the needs of the fellowship. Moderators will help to maintain the functionality of various board topics, discussions, and activities.
In addition, the Organizing Committee recognizes that it may become useful for certain members with board experience and well into their recoveries to assist other members with their 12 step work. Such individuals, if formally established, will be referred to as Step Sponsors.
D. Limitations on the Powers of all Administrative Personnel
The Organizing Committee recognizes that at some future date, it will be important for the Administrator and Administrative Council to establish formal limitations on the powers of all administrative personnel, as such powers relate to the member’s posts and other board activities.
IV. GUIDELINES FOR APPROPRIATE AND INAPPROPRIATE BOARD ACTIVITY
Any sexually, socially, or personally inappropriate and/or offensive posts by persons (whether they are members of the board or visitors) shall be deleted immediately by the Administrator of Executive Assistant according to criteria (soon to be formally established). This board and fellowship exist to further people’s recovery from love and relationship addiction, as well as related addictions and conditions. The Administrative Council will maintain a copy of any and all such deleted posts.
ADDITIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE AND ORGANIZATIONAL MATTERS
The Organizing Committee anticipates the establishment of additional administrative and organizational functions, policies, and procedures as the board and fellowship develop and grow over time. Such matters will remain within the province of the Administrative Council.
